Cesar Koirala , Ed.D.

CEO & Co-Founder

For over 15 years, I've worked at the intersection of technology and business, from building NLP tools for an EdTech company to leading machine learning teams at Fortune 100 companies. My passion has always been to use AI to augment human intelligence, and I am excited by the recent developments. However, I consistently observed a critical disconnect: we were building powerful AI, but the tools to ensure its safety and compliance were manual, fragmented, and full of friction.

This problem became a central focus during my time as the Director of Responsible AI at UnitedHealth Group. There, I was responsible for mitigating the real-world risks of AI - from bias in healthcare models to ethical concerns in enterprise-wide systems. I realized that mitigating these complex risks required more than just a single report. It demanded a complete solution to find, fix, and track AI risks from the very first line of code to final deployment.

HumanLens.ai is the result of that journey. It's built on the principle that responsible AI shouldn't be a compliance checklist - it should be a seamless part of the development process. My mission is to empower developers and enterprises to innovate with confidence, knowing their AI is not just powerful, but also safe, fair, and trustworthy. My academic work at NYU and Columbia, where I teach the ethics and application of AI, continues to reinforce this belief and serves as the foundation for a unique blend of industry experience and academic insight that defines HumanLens.ai.

As a Research Faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology, I lead the design of multi-platform data architectures that power large-scale learning analytics and enable system interoperability across diverse educational tools. My work centers on evaluating and deploying AI systems that enhance teaching and learning while ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability.

Before joining Georgia Tech, I served as a Technical Lead in a tech startup, where I developed and integrated deep learning models for computer vision and natural language processing into production workflows. Earlier, as a Data Science Manager and consultant at EY, I led teams delivering AI-driven analytics solutions for clients across industries - helping organizations translate data into business value and strategic insight.

Across all these roles, I consistently saw the same challenge: as AI systems became more powerful, the mechanisms for ensuring their safety, compliance, and trustworthiness lagged behind. HumanLens emerged from that realization - a platform dedicated to making responsible AI measurable, scalable, and actionable. It brings together my experiences in AI system evaluation, data governance, and learning sciences to build tools that help organizations innovate with confidence - knowing their AI is not only effective, but also ethical and human-centered.
